Pokémon GO: Postcards from the Library

People who know me will not be surprised to hear I’m still playing Pokémon GO in 2024. I jumped on during the Pokémon GO craze in November 2016, a few months after its release, and have been covertly spinning PokéStops and catching Pokémon whenever I’m in a new city, since then.
PokéStop Postcards
You can collect ‘postcards’ from PokéStop locations and add them to a ‘postcard book’ in the game — these can be gathered either from going to a PokéStop or getting a postcard sent to you by a friend. (See What is the Postcard Book from Niantic for more.)
The start of a collection
A few months ago, I noticed just how many ‘postcards’ friends have sent me from libraries. I think it’s a combination of a few things: people know I love libraries, I shared my friend code on Library Twitter at some point, and there are simply many, many libraries that are PokéStops. Anyone who knows me also knows this: I love collecting things. (Again, I’m still playing this game eight years in, and I am going to catch ’em all.)
As the postcards began to pile up in my Postcard Book, I realized something: this is my Library Passport dream manifested in digital form.
A request
Postcards from library PokéStops. That’s it, that’s the request! You can friend me and send gifts at the below:
My friend code is 6281 7664 4313.
I will share pages from my postcard collection here! I’d love to learn more about ways libraries have engaged with the game and/or used their PokéStop status to their advantage! Hopefully more on that sometime soon.
